Therefore Walk

Genesis 2:22-25

“Therefore Walk”

This morning my heart has been on Genesis 2:22-25. Dr. Edward Hall at the 2017 Marriage Retreat taught us that God has glued the husband and the wife together. This wasn’t new teaching but it has become such an illuminating Truth to my heart in that I now know God has done the work in us and it is up to us to be intentional about walking in it. Living out of what God has already done. As I stated verse 24, has blessed me and has continued to challenge me because it says, therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh. I have looked at that “shall become” as a future goal for us, but it is not a future goal but has already been DONE. I just feel that so many are trying to get to a place where God has already placed them (AS ONE FLESH). I believe this to be true and substantiated by the cross reference scripture Matthew 19:5-6. Noting verse 5 Jesus is stating Genesis 2:24 but then He adds; verse 6 so then “THEY ARE NO LONGER TWO BUT ONE FLESH”! Therefore what God has joined together let not man separate. My heart desire is to encourage young marriage couples to begin asking God to teach them how to walk in their oneness. Two scriptures that keep moving me in our Oneness Life together is Romans 15:5-7-Now may the God of patience and comfort grant you to be like-minded toward one another according to Christ Jesus, that you may with one mind and one mouth Glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore receive one another just as Christ also received us to the Glory of God. This text helps me to love and forgive my husband as Christ has so done unto me. The other scripture is John 12:24, most assuredly, I say to you unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone but if it dies, it produces much grain, another version says much fruit. I have to examine myself daily to make sure I am dying to the things that separate us and don’t help us walk in our Oneness.

My prayer is that all of us who are married will walk in the work that God has already done in us to bring Him Glory.
